Contribute to the consolidation of responsible fishery management to recover the biodiversity and productivity of the artisanal fisheries of the Yucatan Peninsula by facilitating collaborative processes and shared actions throughout fish replenishment zones.

The Kanan Kay Alliance is a leading cross-sector initiative that promotes healthy small-scale fisheries, fosters food security, and benefits the coastal communities of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Goal: Increase the biomass of species of commercial interest by at least 30% within fish replenishment zones.

This Cooperative of 27 members was founded on March 21th, 1987. They have developed a strong awareness of sustainable fishing.
Cozumel Fishing Cooperative
Founded in 1959, the Sociedad Cooperativa de Produccion Pesquera Cozumel is a model to follow!
Langosteros del Caribe Fishing Cooperative
This energetic Cooperative was born on January 24th, 1992, and currently has 29 members and 11 aspiring members very passionate about sustainable fishing.
